In the context of COVID-19 Gurukul has celebrated the seventy forth Independence Day on August 15, 2020 with more precautions and physical distancing. The Principal,Faculty and Staff members and a few students were present during the celebration. A short worship service was organized by the College Chaplain Rev. Dr. Daniel Kirubaraj which was conducted in front of the Phule hostel. Ms. Angela, the daughter of Rev. Dr. Wilson Paluri was the guest of honor and she hoisted the tri-color national flag. After paying respect to the national flag, Rev. Dr. Songram Basumatary (the Vice Principal and PG Dean), delivered the Independence Day speech in which he underscored the significance, purpose and implication of freedom into practice based on Galatians 5:1 – “We are liberated to liberate others.” The Principal, Rev. Dr. John Samuel Ponnusamy brought the Independence Day Greetings by adding a note on using our given freedom responsibly.
