80th Independence Day Worship Service at Gurukul

Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai, commemorated the 80th Independence Day of India through a meaningful worship service celebrating the gift of freedom and reflecting on our responsibility to build a nation of peace, justice, unity, and dignity for all. Independence Day pledge, flag hoisting, the National Anthem, and intercessory prayers for our nation and its leaders. The community prayed especially for peace, reconciliation, justice, and the well-being of the poor, marginalised, and vulnerable.

The reflection by Mrs. Pearline Immanuel, Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, further invited the community to reflect on the meaning and responsibilities of freedom by coting the freedom fighters of our nation. As a theological community, Gurukul reaffirmed its calling to nurture peace, reconciliation, responsible citizenship, and respect for the dignity of every person.

May our freedom become a commitment to justice, our diversity become a source of unity, and our faith become a witness to peace.
